How to Get Your Business Mojo Back When You Feel Out of Alignment

brand messaging & positioning Nov 26, 2025

If you have been a consultant or coach for a while, you may reach a moment when the business you once loved no longer feels like it fits. I have been there too. In fact, it is one of the most common seasons my clients walk through. We invest years of expertise, money, and energy into a business we built with pride, and then one day we wake up and realize it is just not working for us anymore.

Maybe the clients are not the right ones. Maybe the work no longer lights you up. Maybe marketing feels heavy and draining instead of exciting. When you hit that moment, it is confusing and unsettling. You still need your business to survive and thrive, but you no longer feel aligned with the way you are running it.

Today, I invited my client Pamela Johnson to share her own experience of losing her mojo and rebuilding it from the inside out. Her story reflects what I see so often in the consultants and coaches I serve.

When You Outgrow the Business You Built

Pamela had a successful coaching career. For more than a decade she coached real estate agents, first as a subcontractor under a large coaching company and later in her own practice. From the outside, everything looked great. But she felt depleted, burned out, and disconnected from the work.

She loved coaching, but she did not love the context. She did not love who she was serving anymore. She did not love the business model she was in. And when you no longer love the work, it will always show up in your energy, motivation, and marketing.

She tried to push through. She tried to keep going. But it only made the misalignment louder.

Eventually she recognized the truth that many of us eventually face.
You cannot grow a business when you have outgrown the business you built.

Your Ideal Clients Will Evolve As You Evolve

When Pamela and I began working together in my VIP brand messaging and positioning program, we started by getting clear on who she actually wanted to serve now, not who she served in the past.

As we worked through the exercises, a theme emerged. The people who naturally came to her for advice were other coaches, especially women who had left corporate or subcontractor roles and wanted a business that was truly their own. They were high achievers who had strong coaching skills, but they hated marketing and felt overwhelmed by visibility. They wanted a business that supported their life, not one that drained it.

Once Pamela owned that truth, everything shifted. Her energy changed. Her confidence returned. Her creativity opened up. She began seeing what she wanted to build rather than staying stuck in what she had built before.

This is one of the most important lessons I teach.

When you're a coach, your ideal client is often a younger version of you.
When you name that person and build your business around them, your clarity and mojo return.

Rebuilding Your Foundation Brings Your Passion Back

Pamela did not fix her misalignment with more marketing tactics. She did not double down on strategies that were already draining her. She rebuilt her business foundation from the inside out.

She clarified:

  • Who she is now

  • What she wants

  • Who she is called to serve

  • How she brings value

  • What makes her different

And once that foundation was clear, her brand, her messaging, her visual identity, and her confidence all started to fall into place.

This is why brand clarity matters so much. When your business aligns with your strengths, your story, and your purpose, the work becomes meaningful again. The marketing becomes easier. The momentum returns.

You get your mojo back.

Why Losing Your Mojo Is Not a Failure

If you have lost your business mojo, it does not mean something is wrong with you. It means you are growing.

Consultants and coaches evolve. We gain new experiences, new strengths, new passions, and new clarity. When your business stops matching who you are becoming, it is simply a sign that it is time for a shift.

Pamela listened to that internal signal and followed it. And now she is building a coaching business that reflects her values, her expertise, and the women she feels called to support.

You can do the same.

Next Steps

1. Reflect on Your Own Mojo
Take 5 minutes to notice where your business feels out of alignment. What is draining you? What feels like Groundhog Day? Awareness is the first shift toward renewal.

2. Revisit Who You Are Really Called to Serve
Ask yourself the same clarifying question Pamela answered. Who comes to you for advice? Who do you naturally help? Write down the people you feel most energized supporting.

3. Book a Clarity Conversation

About the guest: Pamela Johnson is a veteran real-estate agent turned trainer and coach who helps agents and small business owners escape the burnout loop and build something that finally sticks. After launching her career with just two sales in her first year and moving into corporate training and team leadership, she learned just how fast time, energy and profit can slip through a business if you don’t have the right systems and habits in place. Now, as the founder of Pamela Johnson Coaching, she supports professionals in identifying the “money burners, time-wasters and de-motivators” that quietly drain success and joy so they can replace them with purpose-driven work and a business they genuinely love.
